Mechanism of Action: Cetrorelix acetate is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist. It competes with natural GnRH for receptors in the pituitary gland, thereby suppressing the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which prevents an untimely LH surge and premature ovulation.
Medical Uses: Its primary use is in women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation as part of assisted reproductive techniques (ART) to ensure that oocytes (eggs) are retrieved at the optimal time. It has also been researched for use in hormone-sensitive cancers and benign gynecological disorders
