Fingolimod Hydrochloride
Fingolimod hydrochloride is an oral immunomodulator, a type of drug used mainly to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) by trapping immune cells (lymphocytes) in lymph nodes, stopping them from attacking the central nervous system. It works as a sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) receptor modulator, preventing immune cell movement and reducing inflammation, but requires careful monitoring due to potential serious side effects like slow heart rate (especially after the first dose), increased infection risk, and heart issues, necessitating doctor supervision and monitoring
Multiple Sclerosis (MS): Reduces MS relapses and disease activity.
Research: Also studied for other conditions like chemotherapy-induced neuropathy.
